Membership of IUFRO is open to any institution concerned with the promotion, support or conduct of research related to forests, trees and forest products.
The Working Party is involved in all basic aspects of physical and mechanical properties of wood and wood-based materials.
The scope encompasses not only the basic properties of these materials, but also the interaction of physical and mechanical properties. The determination of these properties includes experimental and/or modeling techniques that lead to information for expansion or improvement of reference data bases, and to support the efforts of researchers in other Working Parties.
