Description

Forests provide suites of ecosystem services that support and sustain human livelihoods. However, climate change and sustainable forestry development may alter the forest ecohydrological functions in a rather complex unprecedented way. Contemporary forest watershed management requires novel sciences. Forests must be managed with new policy and institutional arrangements (e.g. the Paris Climate Agreement, the Forest Landscape Restoration strategies) and innovations. This calls for improved monitoring modeling methods to support the decision-making process.

This international conference represents a continuing effort to understand the forest-water nexus in our changing environment.

Previous conferences have been held in Beijing, China (2006), Raleigh, USA (2009), Fukuoka, Japan (2012), Kelowna, Canada (2015), and Valdivia, Chile (2018). We will continue the 15-year tradition of the conference, focusing on the linkages between forests, water, climate, and people.
