Membership of IUFRO is open to any institution concerned with the promotion, support or conduct of research related to forests, trees and forest products.
In 2019, the IUFRO World Congress was hosted for the first time in a Latin American country. It took place in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, from 29 September to 5 October, and was organized and coordinated by the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) and EMBRAPA. Some 2700 participants attended the event, which discussed various aspects related to forest research.
The Congress was a great opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge on technological innovations, as well as to stay up to date on the latest research findings and trends for the future of forestry and forest research in all areas of the world.
It also represented a major meeting place for researchers, teachers, students, and professionals in the forestry sector worldwide to come together.
President Elect Dr. John Parrotta, USA, addressed the delegates during the Closing Ceremony of the Congress.
