Description

The Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources invites applications for a Full Professorship (W 3) for Forest History and Sustainable Development in the Department of Forest Sciences.

This professorship is also particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.

The professorship focusses on the history and the understanding of forests and their use in its interaction with changing ecological, social, political and economic environments. Geographically, connections are created between local and global developments, with a focus on Central Europe and the Global South.

Methodologically, the research of the professorship ranges from the analysis of historical sources for the reconstruction of historical factors influencing forest development to the reconstruction of past environmental conditions and the explanation of current structures and processes of sustainable development of regions in the context of global environmental changes.

In teaching, the professorship contributes to the Faculty’s forest sciences and environmental social sciences programs at Bachelor’s and Master’s level – covering the fields of forest history and sustainable development of land use systems in an international context.

The future professor is expected to actively collaborate in the various interdisciplinary research projects at the Faculty and in cross-faculty structures, particularly at the interface with environmental history.
