Biography

Ernest Foli holds a PhD and MPhil in Forestry from the University of Aberdeen, UK., with 35 years’ experience in tropical forestry research.

He is the current Executive Secretary of the Forestry Research Network of Sub-Saharan Africa (FORNESSA), and also coordinates a postgraduate programme in Climate Change and Integrated Natural Resources Management at the CSIR College of Science & Technology in Ghana.

His main areas of expertise and research include:

  • Forest Mensuration and Inventory, with a recent focus on Carbon Stocks Assessment;
  • Forest Growth and Yield Modelling;
  • Tropical Forest Silviculture and Management;
  • Forest Landscape Restoration for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

He has contributed significantly to forestry and science with about 236 scientific outputs (including 34 peer-reviewed journal articles, 16 books, 11 manuals/Policy Briefs, 69 scientific reports, and 117 scientific conference paper presentations).
