Biography

Julio Javier Díez Casero is a Full Professor at the University of Valladolid (UVa), where he leads the Laboratory of Forest Pests and Diseases within the Department of Plant Production and Forest Resources. His research focuses on forest health, with a particular emphasis on the diagnosis and biological control of forest diseases and pests.

Professor Díez's work includes innovative approaches using antagonistic fungi, hypoviruses, and RNA interference (RNAi) to manage forest pathogens and pests. He has extensive experience in international collaborative projects addressing the impact of biotic and abiotic factors on forest sustainability.

With over 25 years of academic experience, he has taught and mentored numerous undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in topics such as forest pathology and pest management. Professor Díez has also published widely in high-impact journals and contributed to books on forest health and sustainable management practices.
