Biography

Tod Ramsfield is a research scientist for the Canadian Forest Service, Natural Resources Canada, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Alberta and Western.  He is based at the Northern Forestry Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.  

His primary research focus is forest pathology, with research on diseases such as Dothistroma needle blight and Armillaria root disease.  He also works to understand the diversity of fungi in soils of the boreal forest and he maintains an interest in forest biosecurity.  He has been actively involved in IUFRO Division 7 – Forest Health since 2010 when he started as deputy for Research Group 7.02 – Forest Pathology.
