Biography

Dr. Chabi DJAGOUN, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and member of the Applied Ecology Laboratory at the University of Abomey-Calavi, has more than 15 years of experience in wildlife conservation and protected area management. 

His research spans six key areas: (i) the impact of defaunation on ecosystem functioning, (ii) ecohealth and sustainable hunting, (iii) wildlife management and governance, (iv) biodiversity conservation and climate change, (v) community-based conservation, and (vi) human-wildlife conflict mitigation. 

A member of the Benin Academy of Young Scientists and affiliated with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) since 2014, Dr. DJAGOUN has published over sixty articles in renowned international journals. In 2018, he received the prestigious "Marsh Award for Ecologists in Africa" from the British Ecological Society, honoring the significant impact of his research in ecology.
